Our Day Walk Courses and Multi-Day Walk Courses provide a pathway to move from Assistant Leader to an Leader, and from day walks to 3-day multi-day walks, to more remote and rugged walks. Each course builds on the previous course.

Bushwalking Leadership Courses

Day Walk Assistant Leadership Certificate

Course code: DWALC

  • Attend a Day Walk Leadership course
  • Complete the Day Walk Leadership course workbook
  • Submit a walk planning project
  • Submit Risk Assessment for a Day Walk

Day Walk Leadership Certificate

Course code: DWLC

  • Complete part one of Day Walk Leadership Program, the Day Walk Assistant Leadership Certificate.
  • Log the required number of led walks
  • Complete a walk plan
  • Undertake a practical assessment

Level 1 – Bushwalking Assistant Leadership Certificate

Course code: BALC

  • Complete the e-learning course component
  • Attend the 2x¬†required practical workshops
  • Attend the 3x day Advisor accompanied¬†field experience

Level 2 – Bushwalking Leadership Certificate

Course code: BLC

  • Log the required number of led walks
  • Submit a walk planning project and Risk Assessment for a (minimum) 2-day walk
  • Participate in a 2-day Technical Skills Assessment
  • Undertake a practical assessment walk (minimum 2-day duration)
  • Complete Theory Exam

Level 3 – Advanced Bushwalking Leader Course

Course code: ABLC

  • Log the required number of led walks
  • Participate in General Mountain Training
  • Participate in Steep Terrain Group Management Training
  • Undertake a practical assessment walk (minimum 3-day duration)
  • Complete Theory Exam
